FAQ

How are digits handled?

Digits are usually output by their English words (One, Two...). Some aviation/maritime use says Niner for Nine to avoid German confusion; this tool uses the common reading.

Does case matter?

No. The phonetic code maps to the letter itself regardless of case, so A and a both give Alpha.

What about Chinese or symbols?

The NATO alphabet covers only 26 Latin letters and digits. Characters with no code word are typically kept as-is or skipped, so use it on alphanumerics.

Is this alphabet the only standard?

This uses the international NATO/ICAO phonetic alphabet. Other spelling alphabets existed historically, but the NATO version is today's de facto standard in aviation, military, and telecom.

Why Alfa, not Alpha?

The official spelling is indeed Alfa and Juliett, to aid non-English speakers. Displayed spelling may vary slightly, but the letter each word represents is the same.

Any browser compatibility requirements?

This tool works in all modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari). No plugins or extensions required.

Can I use it offline?

After initial load, most features work offline. The core logic runs entirely in your browser with no network dependency.
