The tool works on the page's CropBox and MediaBox coordinates via pdf-lib: auto mode detects the content bounding box and adds a 10pt padding, while custom mode gives individual top, right, bottom and left margin controls. Apply the crop to all pages, the first page only, or a custom page range (e.g. 1-5,8,10-12). An important nuance is that cropping changes the visible region rather than deleting content: the trimmed-away area still lives inside the PDF, just out of view, so cropping typically does not shrink file size — it tightens the layout. It is ideal for removing scan borders, trimming slides with inconsistent margins, or preparing documents for e-book readers. Text remains selectable and hyperlinks stay live because only the visible boundary is adjusted. Leave a small safety margin so page numbers and signatures in the header/footer are never cut off.
